Return to Margaritaville! A Fun, fundraising event!
What better way to celebrate weary winter survival than to break out in song and dance and chow down on cheeseburgers and munchies? It’s even better if you can raise much-needed funds to find a cure for dystonia, the third most common neurological disease after essential tremor (neurological shaking with no known cause) and Parkinson’s disease.
Paula Gates has dystonia, which is a debilitating neurological movement disorder. She, her family and her friends now know more about the disorder than they could have ever imagined and they are experiencing its effects first hand through Paula Gates.
The mission of the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation is to advance research, promote awareness and education and to support the needs and wellbeing of affected individuals and their families Gates said.
So from a personal perspective, raising significant amounts of money for the DMR foundation is an important part of her life. It’s what has been motivating Paula, her husband Don and their friends to continue running the Return to Margaritaville freedom to move dance that initially raised $27,000 and has totaled more than $100,000 in four years.
The evening offers more than just fun food in a relaxing atmosphere, there will be dancing and excitement generated by DJ Chris Culkeen and lots of interesting favors and colorful decorations. The wine table and the always-requested themed tables, five or six of them, will again be part of the evening. They will include a beer table, a bar table, a Margarita table and a travel table.
Watch for the 2012 Date!
